COERR organized a training for displaced persons in Ban Mae Lama Luang Temporary Shelter in Mae Hong Son Province’s Sob Moei District, both youth and adults, to learn about disasters and preparedness to prevent or reduce loss of properties and lives, and most significantly, to promote awareness in disaster management.

   The training, in which curriculum was based on the contents provided by Mae La Noi District Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Officials in March 2020, took place on July 15 and 17, 2020. There were 216 participants, consisting of 130 male and 86 female.

   The lecture part was about types of disasters that may occur in the temporary shelter, such as drought, fire, cold spell, storm, flash floods, landslides etc.

   The next topics were enhancing disaster preparedness for effective response; forecasting and early warning system; preparation of fire extinguishers, survival kits, first aid kits; and first aid demonstration.
